For Ontario Tourism
When Destination Ontario asked me to photograph the annual Wawa Ice Fishing Derby, I jumped at the opportunity. Northern communities have always fascinated me as subjects to photograph and I also have a pretty big soft spot for anything to do with fishing.
I booked flights, hotel rooms and a rental car that day for myself and a cinematographer. We flew to Sault Ste. Marie on the North shore of Lake Superior and from there, we drove another 350km North up to Wawa. We spent the next few days waking early to photograph sunrise, backing up files and warming up at lunch and then going out again in the evening to shoot.
I managed to earn and then lose the nickname "City". Fun was had. Thanks Destination Ontario.
