For Ontario Tourism
When Destination Ontario asked me to photograph the annual Wawa Ice Fishing Derby, I almost fell out of my chair. Northern communities have always fascinated me as subjects to photograph and I also have a pretty big soft spot for anything to do with fishing.
I booked flights that day for myself and a cinematographer to Sault Ste. Marie on the North shore of Lake Superior. From there we drove another 350km North up to Wawa, where we would spend the next 4 days waking early to photograph sunrise, backing up files and warming up at lunch and then going out again in the evening to shoot.
I managed to earn and then lose the nickname "City". Fun was had. Thanks Destination Ontario.
